Nearly every opener installed since 2012 has a LOCK button on the wall console. Hold it until the light blinks and every handheld remote and keypad goes deaf while the wall button and smartphone app keep working. That single press would have prevented the Ocean View door from answering a stray signal. The 10-minute pre-trip checklist
